Quick and Easy Christmas Party Makeup

December is almost here which means it is now Christmas party season! A lot of Christmas parties, including mine, start straight after work so there is no time to go home to get glam meaning you end up doing your makeup in the office! With a mad dash to use the mirrors in the ladies and impatient colleagues guaranteed, these are my tips and favourite products for quick and easy party ready makeup!

Nothing screams Christmas to me like glitter and red lipstick, so that is the basis of my Christmas party look this year. Glitter is notoriously a pain to work with because it is so messy and gets everywhere! However, earlier this year Stila bought out a fab product, the Magnificent Metals Glitter and Glow Liquid Eye Shadow, that provides all the glitter we love but with none of the mess! The formula is glitter liquid eye shadow which dries down completely and as long as you don't rub your eyes there is no fall out. They can be worn alone or over other eye shadow which is why I think that they are perfect for a quick Christmas look! They have a doe foot applicator, a bit like a lip gloss, for easy application so you can swipe them on your eyelid, quickly blend out with your finger and then you're done!

L to R - Diamond Dust, Kitten Karma, Smoky Storm

As part of their Christmas collection Stila bought out the Written In The Stars gift set which included three mini Glitter and Glow shadows in the shades Diamond Dust, Kitten Karma and Smoky Storm. I decided to pick this up a few weeks ago and I'm very glad I did as unfortunately it is now sold out (sorry!). Luckily all of these shades are permanent, so if you like the look of any of these you can pick up a full size version! The full range includes 12 colours ranging from black to duo chrome blues so if you want to incorporate more glitter in your life then there is surely a colour for you! For this look I used Smoky Storm alone on my lids.

When it comes to red lipstick I think I own about seven variations but my favourite, hands down, is Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid Lipstick in Redrum. This is my perfect blue toned red and I just love how it looks on me! I think that liquid lipsticks are a great option for Christmas parties as they are generally long lasting and transfer proof, so you won't have to keep touching it up throughout the night. I have tried a lot of different liquid lipsticks and in my opinion the Jeffree Star ones are the best. I do not find them drying, which is something liquid lipsticks are notorious for being, they last all day,  do not flake and if you do have to touch it up it layers well over itself.

To tie my Christmas look together glowing skin courtesy of a blinding highlight felt necessary. My go to for this Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop. This formula is so beautiful, a little can be used for a light glow but it can certainly be built up for an intense highlight! This colour is universally flattering  on all skin tones and it glides on to the skin with a shimmering finish, no horrible chunky glitter!

No matter what kind of look you go for this Christmas here are my tips for looking and feeling party ready!

1. Prep your skin
In the run up to your party look after you skin. Make sure moisturise daily and use your favourite face mask the night before to give yourself an extra boost. Most importantly, don't use any new skincare products you haven't tried before because the last thing you want is a breakout or bad reaction.

2. Forget the falsies
Unless putting on false lashes comes as second nature to you don't bother with them for your party. They can be pain to put on at the best of times and trying to get them on in a rush is pressure you don't need! You'll look great without them anyway!

3. You do you!
Wear whatever makeup makes you feel your best because then you will feel confident and enjoy the party to the fullest! A night when you have limited time to get ready is not the one to try a completely new look, but if you do want to step outside of your comfort zone then practice the look you want to do beforehand.

Hope you all have a magical Christmas period!
